Parabhairava

The Supreme State of Consciousness

Parabhairava is the highest understanding within the Paramadvaita and Trika traditions. The ancient masters used this name to point toward the supreme reality that exists before thought, before form and before the movement of creation itself. Parabhairava is pure, self-luminous awareness. It is the unfading presence that remains steady through every change of life and mind.
In the timeless yamala teachings, Parabhairava is described as the source of all experience and the witness of all experience. It is not a distant deity. It is the innermost truth of every being. When the mind becomes still and awareness recognises its own nature, this recognition is called Parabhairava. It brings a natural sense of clarity, freedom and quiet strength. The fear that comes from separation dissolves. One stands in a state of fullness that needs no affirmation.
The sages of the Paramadvaita lineage, from Somananda to Abhinavagupta, taught that Parabhairava cannot be reached through effort alone. It is revealed when the seeker allows the heart, mind and breath to rest in simple presence. This recognition becomes the foundation for the journey of the Rishi, a journey where inner light guides outer action.
Within Rishikula, Parabhairava is honoured as the silent core of the teachings. It supports the revival of the ancient Rishi path and strengthens every seeker who walks toward inner awakening. To approach Parabhairava is to remember one’s original nature and to live with clarity, devotion and purpose.
